Hello! I’m so happy you’ve visited our website to learn more about Drake FSL, recruitment, and Alpha Phi! My name is Erica Copeland, and I’m the Vice President of Membership Recruitment for the Gamma Omicron Chapter here at Drake University for the 2024-2025 school year.
Going through recruitment was one of the best decisions I made during my first year as a Drake student. I have gained many friends, new experiences, and opportunities in leadership that have helped guide me through young adulthood. Our Fraternity and Sorority Life is unlike anything you’ll find at other schools; each chapter is unique, and together, we create a community of diverse, dedicated, and inspiring individuals who have each found their place to grow and thrive.

I found my home in Alpha Phi because the members I met and continue to meet are the most kind-hearted, genuine, passionate, and uplifting friends I could have ever hoped to have. Stepping into my final year of undergrad, I am so grateful to my younger self for deciding to go through recruitment, and I hope that through this process, you also find a foundation that will last you not just through your time as a bulldog but for the rest of your life.

To learn more about who we are, please feel free to continue exploring our website. If you would like to learn more about Drake FSL, you can visit www.drakefsl.com. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask! My email is erica.copeland@drake.edu.

WHY SHOULD I JOIN A SORORITY?
Every person has their own unique reasons for joining the Greek Community. We feel joining a sorority is about finding a sisterhood and a home that suits you. Lasting friendships, leadership opportunities, philanthropic contributions, and not to mention an all-around unforgettable college experience are some of the many benefits of joining a chapter. We like to think of Alpha Phi as our 'home away from home.
What kind of commitment is joining a sorority?
Our rule of thumb is ‘you get what you put into Alpha Phi’. While some of our events are required (Sunday chapter meetings, Monday night dinners, and other important events such as philanthropy events) members can pick and choose to attend sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social events that fit into their schedules. So, the time commitment is as much time as you are willing and able to dedicate!
Another concern of many women interested in joining Greek life is the monetary commitment. While there is a financial commitment involved in joining any chapter, Alpha Phi offers payment plans to accommodate the needs of our members. Many women pay for their semester dues themselves and have found that the benefits far outweigh the costs.
Is there any hazing in Alpha Phi?
None! Both Alpha Phi and Drake University have a strict no-tolerance policy for hazing of any kind. Hazing is defined as any activities that cause humiliation, are seen as harassment or abuse, or any other activities that evoke fear or embarrassment. We don't feel that encompasses the sisterhood we want for our members.
